James “Jim” Netter, broker-owner of Netter Real Estate in West Islip, NY, was named the recipient of the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award by Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) during its annual Installation and Awards Event held on January 5, 2023, at Oheka Castle in Huntington, NY.

With over forty-five years in the industry, Netter has left an extraordinary mark on the real estate profession and his community at large.

LIBOR’s Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes one REALTOR® annually who has made significant contributions to the association and real estate profession through leadership, teamwork, and community involvement. These industry leaders serve as icons in the real estate community.

Netter established Netter Real Estate over forty-five years ago after working with and being trained by his father, a respected member of the real estate community on Long Island. At 18 years old, Netter was a stockbroker commuting to Manhattan, when he was asked to fill in at his dad’s office one weekend. He sold two homes and another two homes the following weekend! It was clear that the family business ran in his blood and it was time for him to move into the real estate world. 

Netter eventually branched out on his own, targeting Lindenhurst to Sayville as his primary marketing communities. This little one-man independent office, with the help of the internet, now sells homes all over Long Island. 

When starting as a new broker with his firm, Netter became deeply involved in the governance of LIBOR and Multiple Listing Service of Long Island (MLSLI). He found himself immersed in every committee, task force, and social event held by the local boards. Netter also attended many New York State Association of REALTORS® (NYSAR) meetings and most National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) conventions.  He made it a priority to give back to the industry and has dedicated innumerable hours of service as a past President of the MLSLI and on both the MLS and LIBOR Board of Directors.

As a resident of Oak Beach, it was only natural to expand his business to the barrier island. In the summer of 2018, Netter Beach Estates opened a satellite office in Ocean Beach. Netter provides the same exceptional services he and his team are known for to the Fire Island community.

In addition to the many professional organizations Netter belongs to, he is also known for his generosity to the community. He is a proud sponsor of Gigi's Playhouse Long Island, which offers free educational and therapeutic services to individuals with Down syndrome, as well as Helping Hands in West Islip, which inspires children and the community to unite to assist local Long Island children in need. 

As the industry is ever-changing, the one thing that will always stay the same for Netter is his focus on growth for Netter Real Estate. He is committed to not only his clients but to his employees and the community as well.
