The spring homebuying and selling season is upon us, and new data from the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) paired with the US mortgage rates biggest weekly drop in a decade, strongly indicates that Americans are ready to purchase homes. To meet the high buying demand, thousands of homes will be open to the public as part of the Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) 10th Annual REALTOR® Open House Weekend, Saturday and Sunday, April 6-7, 2019.
The Open House Weekend has marked the spring renewal of Long Island’s homebuying season for the past ten years. The popular weekend event brings out the community and proves to be a perfect time for buyers to revive their dreams of homeownership by providing a stress-free way to visit homes for sale in different neighborhoods, where they may choose to live. According to the National Association of REALTORS®, 65 percent of people believe that now is a good time to purchase a home. NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun said several factors are helping to improve the attitudes of potential homebuyers. “First, inventory has been rising, so those buyers interested in making a purchase will not be limited in choices,” Yun said. “Additionally, more stable home price trends are leading to more foot traffic at various open house gatherings.”
