The Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) in partnership with the New York State Association of REALTORS® (NYSAR), is hosting a “Back to School Supplies Drive” to benefit the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless (LICH) Backpack Pirates program. There are currently over 10,000 children who are homeless or in need on Long Island. Each September, when it's time to return to school, these children often do not have adequate supplies to help them get started on the road to learning.
In honor of REALTOR® Care Week, from August 17 - August 22, 2020, LIBOR is requesting donations of new school supplies and other non-stationery items to be distributed to children living in shelters, temporary housing and other facilities on Long Island. Established in 2019, REALTOR® Care Week is a week-long initiative that encourages REALTORS® to engage in community improvement projects throughout our neighborhoods.
Although it is uncertain what the 2020-21 school year will bring due to COVID-19, we ask that you please help us in this collection. Whether learning virtually or in the classroom, every child deserves to start the school year right, with the tools they need to succeed.
