Urgent Call for Action

Oct 03, 2019

REALTORS®, your action is needed: Send a message urging New York State to approve a critical natural gas pipeline ASAP!

New gas service and real estate transactions in the New York City and Long Island region are being held up due to National Grid’s inability to meet the region’s growing energy demands. The Governor and the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) need to approve a natural gas pipeline in order to end National Grid’s moratorium on new natural gas customers. The Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) Project would enable National Grid to accept new applications for gas customers while lowering the State’s dependence on dirty fossil fuels.

Contact your state lawmakers and tell them to support the NESE Project! Any further delay in the approval of the DEC’s water quality permit will prolong National Grid’s inability to process applications and grant services to new and expanding customers. The project has already been delayed for one year with negative consequences, as approximately 3,000 applications for gas service have been put on hold.
